The pupils enjoyed walking around Worcester Woods as they discussed what they could see. One of the pupils pointed and said "look there is a mushroom". The pupils showed an interest in exploring the woods through different movements of running along the paths or in and out of the woodland areas. We discussed how the woods felt like "a jungle with all of this long grass". The pupils walked along logs showing the staff how to balance their bodies with one pupil expressing "look I can walk along without falling off, I just stick my arms out". While we continued to walk further the pupils pointed out a couple of tree huts stood up beside the trees. The pupils showed an interest in dismantling the huts as they identified the sizes of the logs used. One pupil said "this long is taller than me". 

We began to walk towards the outside of the woods where we found a large surface of grass which led to a park. The pupils enjoyed seeing how fast they could travel on the zip wire, achieving the goal of reaching to the top of the climbing frame along with their peers and staff members and exploring the various shaped apparatus.

As we began to move along the sandy paths at Hartlebury Common by walking or running the pupils showed an interest in exploring the environment by climbing trees and creating marks in the sand by using their feet and hands. One of the pupils said "look I can see where I am walking, I just follow my footprints". 

The path started to incline as we continued to walk to the very top. When we got to the top the pupils found a swing and enjoyed swinging back and forth with the support of a member of staff pushing them behind or using their legs to move their bodies with one pupil saying "I want to go really high". 

We carried on exploring the sights of Hartlebury where we found another big tree with a tree hut as the pupils showed an interest in climbing along the branches and sitting in the hut. Two of the pupils started to describe the view from the top of Hartlebury common's hill between one another as they identified how tall they felt "wow it really high up here that look, the houses look really small".

The pupils enjoyed walking along the canal talking about the environment as one pupil pointed to a big tree which was hanging over the canal and asked "what tree is that". We discussed that it was a willow tree. The pupils also showed an interest in looking to see if they could find any boats floating along the canal. The pupils walked together as a group as they communicated between one another if they thought there would be any boats docked at the end of the canal and how many there would be. One pupil said "I think 20" when another expressed "I think 50". We discussed which boat was their favourite with one pupil saying "I like the blue boat" when another explained that "the one with wood on it is my favourite because it looks old looking". One of the pupils showed an interest in finding fishes swimming in the water. At the end of the walk the pupils enjoyed exploring the park as they worked in pairs and teams to see how fast they could spin around in a tea cup or merry go round, demonstrated teamwork to see how high they could go on the see saw as well as beginning to identify which of their peers weighed heavier than each other. The pupils also enjoyed playing a game of tag.

The pupils showed an interest in exploring Worcester Racecourse before the Race for Life run or walk as the pupils wanted to investigate visually in person how far around the racecourse they would need to walk or run and where they will start and end which would be the grand stand. As we were walking the pupils enjoyed jumping over the puddles. Halfway along the pupils as a group showed an interest in skimming stones in the puddles to see how far they would travel. When we got to the Gheluvelt the pupils took it in turns to take part with the exercise equipment's. The pupils then worked together to push their peers on the big swing and climb along the obstacle course.

The pupils showed an interest in walking along the Worcester canal as they talked about what sight they could see such as "look there are ducks swimming". Before we started to walk the teacher asked how many boat the pupils thought there would be at the harbor. The highest number the pupils identified was "19" and the lowest number was "2". As we got halfway along the canal the pupils saw a boat and stopped to look and talk about the size. One pupil said "wow look how big it is". 

A man helping the boat travel spoke to the pupils about where they had travelled before and where they were going next. They also asked the pupils if they would like to have a go at opening the gate for the boat by pushing the lever. The pupils enjoyed working together as a group to use all of their strengths to push the lever all the way to the edge of the canal. 

After we had walked all along the canal to reach the harbor we looked at the boats and concluded that there was about 50 or more altogether. Walking past the boats to the end of the path we saw a big field which led to a park. The pupils enjoyed exploring the various equipment's and obstacle courses.

The pupils enjoyed walking around Worcester Woods as they showed an interest in exploring the natural resources and wildlife by climbing near to the top of the branches and walking along logs seeing who could balance without falling off. The pupils enjoyed seeing who could run from one tree to another the fastest between the teacher. As we were walking we found an area which has logs around in a circle and decided to sit down in a group for a hot chocolate and marshmallows. 

While we were sitting the pupils could hear a noise of a bird and we described the animal who makes the noise was a "woodpecker". One of the pupils said "it is woody the woodpecker". The pupils walked over to a really tall tree to see if they could find the bird as they looked and pointed to the top of the tree branches saying "look I can see it".

• The pupils enjoyed drawing and making their own robot's using various materials and resources of paper, pen's, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, and different tools such as scissors, Stanley knives and hot glue gun. 
• The pupils showed an interest in searching for what resources they would need to make the robot's body, head, arms and legs. The pupils shared all of the materials and equipment between each other and listened well to all safety instructions and guidance.
• One of the pupils said they wanted "10 fingers for my robot". They collected 4 and after discussion of how many more they would need to make 10 from 4, the pupil picked up 6 more straws. 
• The pupils then took it in turns to glue their resources of the head, arms and legs together in either the middle, side, top or bottom areas. 

DT with Primary 2- making a table

 The pupils went over to RSS to work in a group to make their own table out of natural resources of wood. Before we started to make the table the pupils gathered around the DT workplace and talked about what equipment they would need to use and what safety rules they should follow and the reasons why. The pupils named all of the equipment like screw driver, nails etc and what clothing to wear such as goggles "to protect your eyes from the sand dust" and a apron "so the dust does not go on my clothes".

The pupils enjoyed exploring a variety of tools for example; a drill, saw and pliers. The pupils showed an interest taking it in turns to have a go with each tool with support or independently. The pupils told the staff that for their table "we need four legs" and identified how many nails we would need to screw into the wood. One of the pupils had found two nails and after further discussion another pupil said they need "two nails" more to make up four.

The pupils showed an interest at finishing off their reindeer's at RSS. The pupils gathered around the table in the DT room listening well to all the safety instructions of how to handle and use the tools. The pupils was told that they were going to be making stands out of wood to put their reindeer's onto. The pupils used the sandpaper and little blocks by demonstrating the movements of back and forth, or using the vises to hold their wooden boards to smooth out the rough edges and surface. 

One of the pupils started their reindeer from scratch as they enjoyed using the tools of a drill to make four holes for the legs, and "I need one for the neck" and cutters to cut the sticks down into little pieces After a teacher wrote their names and each pupil took it in turns to use a craft knife to have a go at copying the letters.

The pupils showed an interest in walking along the river collecting big and little sticks to use to create their reindeer's. As we were walking a group of swans started to fly along the river and the pupils enjoyed seeing which of the swans was the fastest and which one had gone the furtherest. One of the pupils talked about the noises they could hear "one was Big Ben and the other was the Cathedral". We thought that the sounds had gone off at the same time as the pupil replied "no the Cathedral bell went off first and two seconds after it went RING and that was Big Ben". The pupils then saw that there were swans eating on the steps near the river and as they presented the school well of listening and being kind to a man who told them that there was 270 swans in the river. 

After walking along the river we went to RSS to make a start on their reindeer's with the resources they had found. As we got to RSS the pupils listened to all of the safety rules given as they sat around the table and took it in turns to use the various tools such as a saw to cut the long log into three pieces for their reindeer's body. After each pupil used the sand paper to flatten the edges with one pupil saying "wow that is really smooth". 

Primary 2 Geocaching

Primary 2 went Geocaching today and managed to find 3 caches!
