walk around The Snipes with Primary 1

The pupils enjoyed walking around The Snipes as one of the teaching assistant's brought along their two dogs. The pupils showed an interest in walking the dogs along the river as they watched them begin to dive into the water. The staff member explained that they were going for a swim. Whilst walking we talked about how we would need to walk down some steps to get to a cave and to see the boats stationed on the harbour. As we got down the steps the pupils saw the caves and one pupil said "wow they are really big, do you think a bear lives there". We continued to walk where the pupils enjoyed having running races seeing who could run the fastest by encouraging one another to know where the beginning of the race was and where it was going to end. One pupil supported their peers by including every pupil and discussing the areas of "we will start at this small tree and the race will finish by that taller tree". 

We turned ourselves around and walked back up the steps counting to see how many there were. As a group we counted to the number .  The pupils enjoyed finding sticks to walk along with saying "it is my walking stick". We walked all the way around the field throwing sticks to the dogs and talking about what sights they could see such as "the sun is hiding behind the clouds.

walk around Himley Halls with Year 10

The pupils showed an interest in walking around Himley Halls as one pupil enjoyed riding their mountain bike. The pupils talked about what sights they could see with one pupil saying "look there are swans" as well as ducks. The pupils started to look at the swans up close. We saw two swans begin to chase after each other as one pupil questioned "why does that one duck keep chasing the other one". We continued to walk along the river where we saw a field of sheep, a baby ducks nest and as we were walking back to the minibus the pupils showed an interest in swinging on tree branches. After we went to RSS and played a group game of Volleyball using their feet and hands.

exploring the hills of Habberley Valley with Year 9

The pupils sorted themselves into two groups where one group showed an interest in walking to the top of the forest hills and the other supported one another and the teaching assistants with setting up the rope swing. The group who wanted to explore the hills found various ways of travelling to the top such as walking through, in and out of the trees and climbing over the bushes or walking step by step along the stairs. The pupils found a big grass hill which followed on from the forest hills and a road. Two of the pupils walked to the end of the grass hill with one saying "I am the king of this mountain". As we walked back down the hills the group explored another side of the forest where they found a cave and sat down saying "this is our new home". The pupil stayed in the cave until the end of the lesson talking about what sights they could see and how high they were from the ground with one pupil describing the height as "I can see people down there they look really small". 

Mid 1 Valley Exploration

Mid 1 spent time exploring a Valley, its Sandstone Rocks, and found the Horses & a Ladybug earlier on today!
