continued junk modelling project with Year 7A

The pupils showed an interest in finishing off their robot's by using different materials, real life equipment's like headphones, laptop keyboards and electrical system circuits. The pupils enjoyed sharing the variety of tools and resources such as taking it in turns to use the hot glue gun to stick the materials onto their robot's as they described where they wanted the headphones or electrical system circuits to be placed for example "there in the middle" and "I want this to be glued on both sides of the robot's head ". 

The pupils showed interest in sharing their thoughts on joining the electrical system circuit pieces together to try and get the technology to work. The pupils also enjoyed using the pliers to cut the electrical pieces into different sizes of either small or long. At the end of the lesson the staff acknowledged the pupils feedback to if they enjoyed making their robot's. One pupil said "I liked giving my robot the fan so it can cool them down when they get hot". Another pupil said "I liked gluing my robot's arms and legs together for them to walk".
 

DT work with Year 7A

• The pupils showed an interest in using the tools and natural resources to make a stall and chair. The pupils worked together well in two pairs to cut the wood for the legs as they used saws and power machines and then used the sand paper to smooth the edges of the wood. 
• The pupils enjoyed using the tools with support or independently to attach the wooden legs and seat for their stall and chair together as one of the pupils said "you need to point the saw down as you cut". The pupil explained that they had done it before saying "I made bird houses while I was at Wood Camp".
• The pupils said they would need "four legs" as it would "help the stall to stand up". As they were building one of the pairs made two of the legs. Cripple Gate Park with Year 7A

At the start of the lesson the teacher went through some Christmas DT sculptures the pupils could make. As we were walking along the river near Cripple Gate Park the pupils found loads of sticks and logs they could use to create their own reindeer. The pupils found little and big sticks for the different body parts of the reindeer such as for the head, body and legs. After the pupils took part in a time challenged. The pupils listened well as the instructions to what they had to do was given. Each pupil took it in turns to complete the obstacles while a teacher timed them. At the end of the lesson the pupils feedback of the activity was positive as they expressed that they had enjoyed it and described what particular sections of the course they liked the most. 

Underwater Media Task

Two students did an amazing job today gathering footage of a Stream using various Media devices during Outdoor Pursuits, it's worth a watch!

Pupils aimed to film the different motions of the stream water and the features within the stream. These included faster flowing stream water, the slower current, water flowing out of pipes, the features within the water such as the bed of the stream, its rocks, its bank, and more. 

Students also took photos of staff dogs and what they were getting up to whilst out with the pupils!

Mid 1 Forest Camp

Mid 1 engaged in some activities within our Forest Camp today...

Mid 1 Valley Exploration

Mid 1 spent time exploring a Valley, its Sandstone Rocks, and found the Horses & a Ladybug earlier on today!
