malvern hills with Primary 3

The pupils walked to the top of the hill talking about the view they could see such as "look there are loads of houses, they look small from here". The pupils enjoyed getting to the top as they had a picture taken of them standing on the state. A couple of the pupils said "it is really cold up here, look at my hands they are red". As we were walking back to the minibus the pupils found different ways to travel back down the hills for example; walking along the path, or tip toeing over the stones along the banks that went up and down. One of the pupils started to talk about history saying "do you think dinosaurs were here a million years ago". We then talked about where the dinosaurs might have been living saying that in those times it would of just been grass and no houses and the pupil said "can you see those holes in the hill, that could of been the caves they slept in"

The pupils enjoyed taking part in a tracking competition as they worked in pairs to track and catch their peers before they got to base. As they pupils were hiding one of them said that they had seen " a bull". After playing a few games the pupils split into two groups as some of the pupils went for a walk around Hartlebury Common and the others stayed to dig in the sand and collect leaves and sticks. One of the pupils said they were making "a Vietnamese trap like they did in the Vietnamese time". The pupils worked together to create the base of the trap as they used big sticks to scoop the sand into little piles and after covered it over with the sticks and leaves they had collected. One of the pupils took charge by partaking the role of instructing their peers of what to find.

The pupils enjoyed walking to the top of the Common talking about the views they could see. As we were walking we talked about how the land rovers come to test out their cars around the tracks. At the top we noticed a land rover which was stuck in the mud so the pupils went to look at the car witnessing that the engine was running. One of the pupils said "I think we should hot wheel it and drive it to the bottom of the hill". As we started to walk back down the pupils showed an interest in exploring the forest areas of the common by climbing up the small cliff coves as they worked together to help and support one another get to the top such as using their hands and legs to lift their bodies up. While they were climbing one of the pupils placed their hand out to pull their peers up. As we were walking past the cliff side view the pupils heard a noise and recognised it as a drone. One of the pupils reply was "it sounds like a hoover, my hoover at home sounds the same".

walk around Castle Morton Common

The pupils walked together in a group to reach the top of the hills. As we were walking the pupils talked about what views they could see such as "look down there, that is a big drop" and also enjoyed throwing sticks and stones down the various drops to see who could throw the furthest. When we got to the top of the big hill the pupils showed an interest in looking at the historic pillar of a person from 1784.

At the start of the lesson the teacher went through some Christmas DT sculptures the pupils could make. As we were walking along the river near Cripple Gate Park the pupils found loads of sticks and logs they could use to create their own reindeer. The pupils found little and big sticks for the different body parts of the reindeer such as for the head, body and legs. After the pupils took part in a time challenged. The pupils listened well as the instructions to what they had to do was given. Each pupil took it in turns to complete the obstacles while a teacher timed them. At the end of the lesson the pupils feedback of the activity was positive as they expressed that they had enjoyed it and described what particular sections of the course they liked the most.

walk around Arrow Valley with Primary 1

The pupils enjoyed walking along the river in Arrow Valley where they started to throw sticks into the river seeing who could throw their's further. Each pupil took it in turns to find a stick and then see how far they could get it. The pupils walked along the paths talking about what views they could see. One of the pupils said "There are geeses". The pupils started to make quack noises saying that they were talking in their language. As we were walking the pupils started to show an interest in picking up stones and skimming them into the river by counting how many drops they had made. Another pupil went over to help their peer as they began to demonstrate what technique to use. As one of the pupils were throwing their stone into the river it sunk and they reacted with "that was too heavy".

The pupils enjoyed walking around Hartlebury Common as they found sticks to make patterns in the sand and to help themselves walk down the hills. One of the pupils showed an interest in using their stick to move the bushes and tree branches away from the paths as they supported the other pupils and teachers by saying "be careful" and "there you go". As we were walking the pupils enjoyed looking at the views as we talked about what we could such as "look I can see the minibus from here ". The pupils also used their bodies to climb to the top of the trees as they said to the teachers "you look small from here".

Malvern Hills with Year 8

The pupils showed an interest in walking to the top of the Malvern Hills. The pupils enjoyed creating different movements as they walked along the paths of the hills such as seeing who could run the fastest. As they got to the top the pupils talked about what they could see. One of the pupils said "you can see everything, there is loads of tall buildings".

The pupils enjoyed working together to take it turns to decide what ways they were going to spread out the sand by using the shovel and helping one another to slide down the hills at Hartlebury Common on the sledge. The pupils showed an interest in positioning their bodies and the sledge in a variety of ways, such as on their knees, on their bottom or lying down, to get themselves down the hills. We then went exploring around Hartlebury's forest areas as we walked through bushes and climbed over tree branches.

Malvern hills A.K.A the death hike!!!

 Dylan – “We were high up and we felt the oxygen get thinner!”

James – “Look at that tree! Oh wait, we can’t see it” (because of the fog)

Jayden – “I almost went deaf in my right ear!” (because of how windy it was)

Ian – “It was windy!”

Tyler – “We climbed up a big hill; we survived!”

Reese – “Never doing that again!”

Zach – “I flew my kite and I found a hat!”

The pupils worked together to put up the parachute by throwing the rope onto the tallest tree. The pupils spread themselves around the parachute as they held each string pulling it as far as they could. After we had put the parachute up the pupils showed an interest in playing games of tracker using the tent as the base.

The pupils showed an interest in taking turns to climb to the top of the trees and worked together to encourage one another. The pupils worked in groups to bang sticks towards the tree stumps seeing who could break their stick the quickest. After the pupils enjoyed experimenting different ways to swing on the swings such as back and forth or spinning around in a circle. The pupils also showed an interest in sliding down the slides one by one and climbing over the apparatus.

The pupils listened to instructions well as the teacher explained how to set up an outdoor parachute. Each pupil took it in turns to throw the rope up into the air for it to loop onto one of the tree stumps. The pupils worked together to set out the structure of the parachute as they held each string and attached them to each tree branch. One of the pupils took the role of using the shears to cut the strings after a knot was made. The pupils then showed an interest in going under the parachute.

The pupils enjoyed working together in groups to collect sticks and leaves to create sand sculptures. The pupils talked about what they were making with one pupil saying "It is a man, look those are his arms and legs". Another pupil said they were building "This is Mr Morgan Tree man". After the pupils showed an interest in playing tracker where they disbursed into small groups to hide in various places.

The pupils enjoyed climbing trees and walking to the top of the hills. The pupils collected leaves and sticks to create their own Christmas decorations. As we got to the minibus the pupils enjoyed cooking bacon on a gas stove as one pupil said "I am top chef just like Gordon Ramsey".

Year 9's pupils comments: 

We made bacon sandwiches outside they was good. 

The weather was cloudy with a little bit of sunshine.

 The place we went was Hartlebury common.

 We all walked in sand and we climbed trees.

cooking on a gas stove and fire pit with Year 8

The pupils enjoyed cooking bacon on a variety of fire resources such as gas stove and fire pit. The pupils worked together in pairs to get the fire a lit by putting paper and wood onto the fire pit. The pupils showed an interest in exploring with the bread and butter to make their own toast for one another.
