The pupils listened to each instruction given of how to complete the group work challenges. The pupils showed an interest in the string, CD and water bottle as they had to communicate with one another to get the water bottle from off of the ground without it falling off. The pupils communicated with different ideas of how to achieve the challenge such as "let us all lift at once" and "you lift first and then we will after". After the pupils took part in the floating challenge as they worked together to get the ping pong ball to the top of the tube by putting the tube into the watering tank and pouring water with a bucket as the others covered the holes with their hands for the ball to raise. Each pupil allocated what role they were going to play with one directing the others of what to do and another finding natural resources like wood and sticks to cover the holes. We then went to RSS to play a few games of Imposter.
This blog highlights the wealth of activities the children at Riversides School experience during their weekly Outdoor Education lessons. The range of opportunities coupled with the diverse settings we visit enable the children to explore and engage in learning in a wide variety of ways. This also allows for cross curricular links to ICT, English, Science and Maths.
