Year 9 speedboating along Bartley lake

The pupils enjoyed having a go at seeing how fast they could travel in the speedboat along the lake. The pupils showed an interest in creating the circular motions of a doughnut around the different coloured balls. After the teacher set all of the pupils a challenge of making the figure of 8 between the space of two balls which were close to one another. The teacher went first to demonstrate how the figure of 8 looks. After three of the pupils had a go at steering the wheel and moving the lever up and down to the various letters which associated to either neutral, reverse or forward on the speedboat as they began to create the shape of the figure of 8 in the waves individually or with teacher support

The other pupils stood on shore and shouted words of encouragement to their peers along with staff members such as one pupil said "wow they are going really fast" when another described an event that nearly occurred saying "oh my god I thought they were going to fall in, the boat nearly tipped". To finish off the lesson some of the pupils showed an interest in jumping into the lake.
